P1 Week 1: Dwindling Water
backMalhar got a water test kit for his birthday. We decided to play water detectives with it in our village. We explored all kinds of water sources around us.
The Sad Spring
First we went to the nearby spring where we saw water bubbling out of rocks. But something wasn’t right. The water had a funny smell, and some of the fish were gone.
🐟 “This spring is sick!” Isham said. Aarav tested the water with a kit.
💡 “Fertilisers from nearby farms are leaking into the spring, and that’s hurting the fish,” he explained. “We’ll need to tell the farmers to use fewer chemicals!”
The River of Trash
Next, we visited the big river in the village. We were excited to play by the water, but it was full of trash and oil. A factory pipe nearby was leaking dirty water straight into the river!
💧 “The fish can’t live in this, and neither can we!” Aarav said. We decided to talk to the factory owner.
👨💼 “If you clean up your waste before dumping it, the river can stay healthy,” Meera told him. The owner promised to fix his factory.
The Mystery Rain
One day, it rained after weeks of dry weather. Vivaan put out a bucket to collect the rainwater. But when we looked closer, the water wasn’t clear—it had tiny black specks!
🌧️ “What’s in the air is also in the rain,” Malhar said. “This must be pollution from all the cars and factories!” We talked to our teacher, who helped us plant trees to clean the air.
The Puddle Surprise
Splash, our dog, loved puddles. But one day Splash got sick after drinking from a puddle near the road. Aarav knelt down and saw a rainbow-like film on the water.
🐾 “It’s oil from cars,” he said. Vivaan added, “We should tell people not to let their vehicles leak!”
The Tapwater Puzzle
At home, Vivaan’s mom complained, “Our tap water tastes weird.” The kids tested it and found traces of chlorine. Aarav explained, “Chlorine keeps germs away, but if there’s too much, it tastes bad. We can boil the water to make it safe!”
The Secret Underground Water
Their last adventure took us to a village well. The water looked fine, but Aarav found a secret—the water had arsenic!
🛑 “This is dangerous!” he said. We told the villagers, who got help to install a filter.
The Big Lesson 🌟
By the end of our journey,we, the Water Detectives learned an important lesson:
✨ “Water is precious, and we all have to work together to keep it clean. If everyone does their part, our springs, rivers, rain, puddles, and taps can stay safe for everyone!”
