Assignment Steps

  1. Define the Area:
    • Map a space that is approximately 1 square kilometer.
      • Option 1: Choose a real area like a neighborhood block, park, or hiking trail.
      • Option 2: Create a fictional area like a survival island or adventure setting.
  2. Plan Your Map:
    • Outline the Area: Include boundaries, such as roads, rivers, fences, or edges of forests.
    • Mark Key Features:
      • Natural: Hills, valleys, streams, forests, clearings.
      • Human-made: Paths, buildings, or other landmarks.
  3. Use Navigation Tools:
    • Add a scale (e.g., 1 cm = 100 m) to represent real distances.
    • Include a legend to explain symbols (e.g., green = forest, blue = water).
    • Orient your map by marking north clearly.
  4. Draft and Finalize:
    • Create a clear, detailed draft of your map using pencil or digital tools.
    • Label all features so the map is easy to read and use.
  5. Reflect on Your Work:
    • Write 2–3 sentences answering:
