P1.6.3 Fire Rules

Why Fire Control is Important

- Asha was excited about her first campfire. She added too much wood at once, and the fire grew too big, sending sparks flying into the dry grass nearby. Her friend Ravi shouted, “Quick, get water!” They poured water on the grass and moved their fire to a safer spot.
Fires can grow out of control if not handled carefully. Always think about safety before and during fire-making.

  • What could Asha have done to keep her fire safe?

Feeding a Fire Safely

- Start Small: Add kindling and small sticks gradually.

Watch the Flames: If the flames get too small, add more wood slowly. If the flames grow too big, wait before adding more fuel.

Use the Right Fuel: Dry wood burns steadily and safely. Avoid wet or green wood, it creates smoke and sparks.
