7.4 Future of Jobs
backI landed one of the best jobs without a formal interview, without applying for a job. How does it happen? Companies don't trust job application and interview processes anymore. They want tangible proof, not stories. They actively look for the best people to hire them.
There are two stages of getting a job:
Make yourself desirable
- Have a good resume
You can find many templates online. Your resume has to stand out. Not only the content but the format matters, too. Look at these examples:
Which one do you prefer? Which one would you use? Your job, your role should be a good match to the format. So if you want a graphic designer job, go for the second one. If you look for a project manager position, choose the first one. You can find good guidelines on this website.
2. Have a good profile on LinkedIn
Fill in every corner of the profile, and especially take care of the "About" section.
This is my favourite About on LinkedIn, from a writer. He is one of the best, still, starts his introduction with an unexpected confession...
Brilliant...
3. Have a portfolio, proof of your works
Show something about your skills. It can be a collection of your work, or just a bunck of posts. Learn more about portfolios on this site.
Be prepared for tests
Now expect some tests, because this is the future way to land a job. In the following units we will show you tests that are used during hiring process by various companies. Try them! Good luck ?
