6.9.18 Minimalism

Weeks later, the house looked like a completely different place. The once-cluttered living room was now open and airy, with plenty of space to relax. Boxes of donations had been sent to local charities, and the garbage bin no longer overflowed.

“This place feels like a real home now,” Siri said, admiring the neatly arranged shelves.

“And no more flamingo lamps!” Pong added, grinning.

Chatri laughed, leaning back in his favorite (and only remaining) armchair. “That flamingo is brightening up a daycare now. And you know what? I don’t even miss it.”

“We’ve cut our spending by half,” Lalana said, holding up the family’s new budget chart. “And we’re not paying for extra garbage pickup anymore.”

Pong smiled. “You’re welcome, Dad. Now you can afford to buy… oh wait, nothing. Because we don’t need it.”

Chatri laughed. “Alright, alright. You win. Minimalism does feel good.” He paused, looking around the house. “But you know what I realized?”

“What?” Siri asked.

“I didn’t really need all those things. What I needed was a little space to breathe.”

The family nodded in agreement, sitting together in their decluttered living room. It wasn’t just a cleaner house. It was a happier one.
