Plastic Pete, Worn and Forgotten

Pete becomes a reusable party cup. For a while, he enjoys hosting backyard barbecues and birthday parties. But over time, he gets scratched and cloudy, and people start avoiding him.

“Hey! I’m still functional! Don’t throw me out just because I’m not shiny anymore.” Pete is eventually discarded in the trash and ends up in a landfill, where he’ll remain for centuries. “Forever? Is that really how long I’ll be here? I could’ve been recycled into something amazing, People thought I was durable, but they didn’t realize it meant I’d stick around forever. No scratches can hide the fact that I’m polluting the earth.”
