6.9.16 Conservation and Restoration
- One day, the library lent me out for a local art exhibit. ‘Temporary furniture,’ they called it. I felt like a celebrity guest! At the exhibit, people admired me (okay, they sat on me, but I’m sure admiration was part of it). Renting and borrowing? Turns out it is my thing! Why buy something new when you can just borrow me for a bit? Everyone saves money, and I get to meet more humans. Win-win!

  • Have you ever lent something to a friend or neighbor? What was it, and how did it feel to help?
  • What’s one thing you own that you don’t use often but could lend to someone else?
  • Have you ever rented something (like a bike, tool, or costume) instead of buying it?
  • What are some items you think are better to rent than buy? Why?
  • Do you know where you can rent things like books, tools, or equipment near your home? If not, how could you find out?
  • What’s the last item you borrowed from a friend or family member? Did you return it in good condition?
  • What’s an item you could borrow instead of buying? How would it save money and reduce waste?
