4.9.5 City versus Village

Moving to the small village

Hi Sadar, how are you?
Hi Udar, what are you doing here, in my village?
We just moved here from Delhi last week. What are you doing here?
Yeah, we also moved last month. We sold our house there and bought a piece of land with a nice house here.
It is better here than in the city, isn’t it?
Well… you will see.
It is good, because my daughters can go to a friendly school. In the village everyone knows everyone. It is so safe here. I don’t have to worry when my daughters go out to see their friends.
It is true, but did you notice that there is only one teacher for all the classes, and she is old. She has no idea about computers or the internet. How can she teach my kids?
It is good, because life is much cheaper in the village than in the city. We can save a lot of money.
Yeah, you can, but do you find everything in the small shop we have here? Toothpaste, for example? Or strawberries? My wife has to go to the city every week to shop in a supermarket.
It is good, because I have much more free time here. I don’t have to spend time travelling to my workplace. I work from home on my computer.
You are lucky. I could not find a job in the village. I still go to work in the city every day. I wake up at four in the morning and get home at nine in the evening. I can hardly see my family.
It is good because we are close to nature. The river and the mountains are beautiful. My daughters don’t have asthma anymore. In the city the air was stinky, we could hardly breathe.
Yeah, but do you have piped water? You have to carry water from the only well in the village, which is far.
It is good because there is not much traffic and noise. Everything is peaceful and quiet. In the city the cars never stopped.
There is not much traffic, but you are in trouble when you want to travel to the city. The bus is always late and crowded. You can’t even sit down, you have to stand for an hour on the bus. Last time I had to travel at the top of the bus, because there were too many people.
Well, let’s see. Worst case, we will move back to the city.
