Something expensive or important

There is a famous book and movie called The Lord of the Rings. Gollum found a magical ring in a river. He liked it very much and he called it “Precious”. The ring kept him alive for a very long time, but took over his life. 

Long ago my grandfather gave me a watch. It is very precious to me, not because it is an expensive watch. Whenever I see it, I remember my grandfather. He was a great man.

My sister climbed the tall tree in our garden, but I didn't. My life is too precious for me.
