4. The Cinderella story

Ask the learner to tell the story in a couple of sentences. Example:

  1. The mother of Cinderella died.
  2. Her father married again, but the stepmother was not nice to Cinderella.
  3. The king wanted to find a wife for his son. He invited every girl to a ball.
  4. The stepmother didn't let Cinderella go to the ball.
  5. An old woman turned Cinderella's old clothes into a beautiful dress and glass shoes.
  6. Cinderella went to the ball and the prince fell in love with her.
  7. She had to leave the ball at midnight, because her dress turned back to the old ones.
  8. She lost her glass shoe.
  9. The prince found the shoe and wanted to marry the girl who lost the shoe.
  10. People went from house to house and tried the shoe on every girl.
  11. They found Cinderella. She tried the shoe and it fit on her foot.
  12. The prince married Cinderella.

If the learner is stuck with the story telling, ask question:

  • Who was Cinderella? What happened to her father and mother?
  • Why was her name Cinderella?
  • Why could not she go to the ball?
  • Who helped her? How?
  • Why did she lose her shoe?
  • How did the prince find her?
  • Do you like the story? Why?
  • What do you think:
    • Did Cinderella go to school?
    • How old was she?
    • At what age should girls get married?
