4.6 Guide: Being a Kid

1. The Little Match Girl - storytelling

In case you don't know the story, it is here: https://class.litvill.com/lessons/4-6-2-match-girls/

Ask the learner to tell the story in 5 sentences. Example:

  1. A little girl sold matches in the street, because she made money for her family.
  2. She went to sell on New Year Eve, but nobody wanted to buy matches.
  3. She was very cold, because she didn't have a coat and shoes.
  4. She lit some matches because her fingers were very cold.
  5. She froze to death in the street.

If the learner is stuck with the story telling, ask question:

  • Who is the girl in the story?
  • Did she have a family?
  • What was she doing?
  • Why was she barefoot?
  • Why did she light a match?
  • What did she see in the flames?
  • What happened to the girl?
