4.3.7 Our Clothes

People's clothes

Animals can grow their clothes. People can't grow clothes.  We can't grow feathers and fur. We take our clothes from other animals, or make them from plants.

The first people made clothes out of animal skins so that they could be warm and dry. Clothes protected people against bad weather, cold, rain and snow.

 These leather clothes took a long time to make, but people wore them for a long time. Leather is difficult to wash. People wore their clothes when it was dirty. They didn’t mind. They wore their clothes until they became worn-out.
 In cold areas people still wear animal skins and fur to keep them warm.
