Chapter 10

Pushmi-pullyus are now extinct. That means that they aren't around anymore. They were like deer with a little difference. They had no tail, but a head at each end. They were very shy and hard to catch. But the monkeys managed to catch one for the Doctor. They asked the pushmi-pullyu if he would go with the doctor to the Land of White Men. They told him that the Doctor was a very kind man and he could make money by showing him to people, who would pay for seeing him. The pushmi-pullyu was not happy at first, but he learnt that the Doctor was a kind man, so he agreed to help him.

The Doctor was surprised when he saw the pushmi-pullyu and asked him, “Are you sure you are a kind of deer?

The animal replied, “ Yes, on my mother's side I am gazelle. But my father’s great-grandfather was the last unicorn.” He talked only with one head.

“Can your other head talk, too?” asked the duck.

“Oh, yes, but mostly I eat with that head and speak with this one.”

After packing, the Doctor and all his animals started to travel back to the sea. All the monkeys went with them. Some carried the bags, while others just came to say thanks for treating them.
