My name is Idika. My father is Chinese. My mother is Indian. My mother doesn't speak Chinese. My father doesn't speak Hindi. How can they talk to each other? Both of them speak English. They met in China. They married 20 years ago there. We still live in China.

My grandfather worked in China and took his family with him. Now my grandfather is old, he doesn't work anymore. My mother has two sisters. They are my aunties. They, too, speak English. At home everybody speaks English.
