10.9 Life in Eco-villages
backA Visit to the Eco-Village
One sunny morning City Mouse visited his cousin in the ecovillage. The air smelled fresh, and trees swayed in the breeze. City Mouse looked around the ecovillage with curiosity.
"This is where you live?" City Mouse asked, looking around at the simple houses and gardens.
"Yes," said Eco Mouse proudly. "We built everything ourselves, using natural materials. Let me show you around!"
Eco Mouse took City Mouse to the community garden, where fresh vegetables and herbs grew in neat rows.
"Where’s the mall?" City Mouse asked.
"We don’t need malls," Eco Mouse explained. "We grow what we need and trade with neighbors. Come, let’s pick lunch together."
City Mouse frowned. "Pick lunch? Don’t you ever eat something fancy?"
Eco Mouse smiled. "Our meals are simple, but they are fresh and healthy. And we eat together as a community. Food tastes even better with friends."
City Mouse didn’t say much during lunch, but he couldn’t help noticing how everyone laughed and shared stories as they ate.
