P1.9.5 Air Survey
Become an Air Quality Investigator 🌍💨
Goal: Create a survey to learn what people in your community think about air pollution. Ask them questions, collect their answers, and then find out what the results tell us about the air where you live!
What You’ll Do:
- Create Your Survey ✏️
Write 5-7 questions to ask people about air pollution in your area. Use questions like:- “Do you think the air here is clean or polluted?”
- “What do you think causes the most air pollution here?”
- “Have you ever felt sick because of bad air?”
- “What do you do to protect yourself from dirty air?”
- “What can we all do to make the air cleaner?”
Feel free to add your own! Keep your questions easy to understand.
- Spread the Word 📢
- Ask your family, friends, and neighbors to answer your survey.
- You can ask people in person, over the phone, or even send your survey online if you can.
- Aim to ask at least 5 people to get a good mix of answers.
- Collect and Organize Answers 📋
-
- Write down the answers you get. You can use a table like this to help:
Name | Clean or Polluted? | Biggest Pollution Cause | Personal Protection Tips | Ideas to Help |
Uncle Joe | Polluted | Diwali firecrackers | Masks, staying indoors | Plant more trees |
- Think About the Results 💡
- Look at the answers you got. What do most people think? Are their ideas similar or different?
- Write 3-5 sentences about what you learned.
- Example: “Most people think cars and burning trash are the biggest causes of pollution. Some people already use masks, but others don’t know what to do. Everyone agrees planting trees would help.”
- Share Your Findings 📊
- Make a small poster, drawing, or write a short story about what you learned.
- Include one idea for how your community can work together to make the air cleaner.
Extra Challenge:
Use the AQI Map to compare what people said with the real air quality in your area. Does the AQI number match what people think?
What to Hand In:
- Your survey questions.
- A list of people you asked and their answers (use the table above if you like).
- A short paragraph about what you learned and your idea to improve air quality.
Have fun being a pollution detective and helping make a difference. 🌳✨
