1. The first skyscraper (tall building) in the world was built in Chicago, United States. It was only 55 m high and had 12 floors! The latest skyscrapers are 10-20 times taller.

7. Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur:  The building was finished in 2023. It has 100 floors:  83 floors of office space, 17 floors of hotel rooms, a shopping mall, restaurants, and a swimming pool on level 99.  8500 cars can park under the building.

Many Malaysians were unhappy with this plan. People think adding that it is a waste of money, and it could have been better used for other ways, such as education and healthcare.

8. Burj Khalifa: The building was finished in 2010. It has 163 floors and 24 348 windows. More than 12 thousand workers built it for six years. They came from other countries like Bangladesh, India and Pakistan, as in the Emirates people choose office jobs.
